Lost Movement in the Khanenko Museum
Lost Movement by Nana Biakova is a project that contains several video installations, installations and a movement based performance. It is an attempt to give inanimate and immobile beings the properties of the living and vice versa. Using her own body as neutral matter, Biakova explores the invisible relationships between her body and the inanimate objects of her native shipbuilding city, Mykolaiv: vessels and other urban structures, dresses sewn by her mother to be sold but never sold, crystal glasses, and other domestic relics left in her apartment in Mykolaiv, which has remained empty since the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Through these materials, she traces boundaries, transitional states, and the patterns of memory embedded within processes of transformation and immobility.
